A trip to the South Carolina coast is a tradition for many, but camping next to the ocean creates a whole new experience. South Carolina offers hundreds of miles of beautiful ocean views and warm, sandy beaches, and there’s no better way to experience it than getting up close and personal. Your next beach vacation will be anything but ordinary at these five stunning beachside camping sites in South Carolina.

1. Edisto Beach State Park

This beautiful state park offers plenty of sights (and sites) for both RV and tent campers. Guests have their pick of RV sites that border either the ocean or nearby salt marsh, while tent campers can opt for a traditional or rustic campsite. There’s also a good chance you’ll see some of South Carolina’s natural wildlife abounding in the area. Within the park, guests have direct beach access, and can enjoy surf or salt marsh fishing, boating, and several trails that wind through the park’s live oak forest.

2. Huntington Beach State Park

Huntington Island State Park is one of South Carolina’s hidden gems, offering glimpses of wildlife everywhere you look and direct beach access. If you’re looking for truly primitive beach camping, this state park has four campsites that are available for group activities. They also offer tent and RV sites complete with electricity and water hookups. While you’re here, you can enjoy fishing, boating, geocaching, swimming, and biking.

3. Hunting Island State Park

One of the South Carolina’s biggest wildlife hot spots, Hunting Island features plenty of campsites for tent and RV campers. Nestled right along the ocean, you’ll enjoy waking up to ocean views each day of your trip. In addition to a day on the beach, guests can fish from the sand, the lagoon, fishing pier, or Johnson Creek, as well as enjoy swimming, biking, geocaching, or watching for seabirds. And a trip to the iconic black and white lighthouse is not to be missed.

4. Ocean Lakes Family Campground, Myrtle Beach, SC

Catering to RVs and tents alike, this sprawling campground gives its guests nearly one mile of exclusive reserved beach access. The area is chock full of amenities, including a water park, splash zone, mini golf, game center, and bike rentals. There’s also a restaurant on site, which means you never have to leave the resort until you’re ready to end your vacation.

5. Lakewood Camping Resort, Myrtle Beach, SC

On site, you’ll find a variety of activities, including water slides, lazy river, splash area, indoor heated pool, horseshoe court, volleyball, arcade, and other activities.
