Join us for fun stories, music, food, and springtime beauty, all to raise funds for Camp Bethel in Fincastle, VA. Available Food during the festival includes salads, chili (beef & vegetarian), pizza by the slice, snacks, and drinks Friday and Saturday. Buddy's BBQ Food Truck here Saturday for lunch & dinner.

Performers:

Motoko was the recipient of the National Storytelling Network’s 2017 Circle of Excellence Award, Motoko has enchanted audiences of every age since 1993. She trained with master mime Tony Montanaro (1927-2002) and renowned Appalachian storyteller Elizabeth Ellis. Motoko’s repertoire includes Asian folktales, Rakugo and Zen tales, ghost stories, mime vignettes, as well as oral memoirs from her childhood in Osaka and her life as an immigrant in the U.S.

Antonio Rocha (pronounced haw-sha) is an award winning  internationally acclaimed storyteller. His unique fusion of mime and spoken word has been featured in premier venues in the United States, as well as at events in 15 other countries spanning 6 continents. With his tenor voice, realistic sound effects, unique characters  and mesmerizing moves, Antonio can reach a vast age group entertaining kids and adults. He is sure to tickle your funny bone and delight your soul no matter your age. Antonio's programs include, folktales, original personal stories, myths, comedy, movement pieces and stories based on his immigration to the USA from Brazil.

Bil Lepp's humorous, family friendly tall-tales and stories have earned the appreciation of listeners of all ages and from all walks of life. Though a five time champion of the West Virginia Liars’ Contest, Lepp’s stories often contain morsels of truth which present universal themes in clever and witty ways. Audiences all across the country, from grade schools to corporate execs to the Comedy Central’s Hudson stage, have been delighted by Bil’s mirthful tales and delightful insights into everyday life. Bil’s books and audio collections have won awards including the PEN Steven Kroll Award for Children’s Book Writing, Parents’ Choice Gold awards, and awards from the National Parenting Publications Assoc., and the Public Library Assoc.

Kevin Kling is a well-known playwright and storyteller. He lives in Minneapolis. Kevin is best known for his popular commentaries on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered, and his storytelling stage shows like Tales from the Charred Underbelly of the Yule Log, delivers hilarious, often tender stories.  Kling’s autobiographical tales are as enchanting as they are true to life: hopping freight trains, getting hit by lightning, performing his banned play in Czechoslovakia, growing up in Minnesota, and eating things before knowing what they are.

Schedule:

5:30pm - Doors Open. Salads, chili, pizza, snacks, drinks available.

6:45pm - Announcements, logistics, and a few bad jokes.

7:00 - 9:00pm Evening Olio, 25 minutes each:

9:15 - 9:45pm Campfire with Storytellers, including s’mores (weather permitting & bring your flashlight!)
