Only ATVs that have been declared "street legal" can be legally ridden on public, non-interstate, streets, roads, and highways in Montana. Children ages 12 through 16 have to have a safety certificate and be accompanied by a licensed operator to ride on public roads, including some Forest Service and BLM roads.
