Prairie Wolf

Several organizations are cooperating at this site to provide open space, wildlife habitat, flood control, water purification, education and outdoor recreation.

This preserve features a 20-acre wetland, wet prairie and adjacent oak woodlands, a 1.75-mile trail for hiking, bicycling and cross-country skiing, a 1-mile self-guided nature trail, and a special Dog Exercise Area where your pet can run leash-free.

History:

In the early 1970s, the Lake County Forest Preserves moved to save 150 acres of land north of Old Mill Road. Additional land was purchased between 1976 and 1979.
