War Axe State Recreation Area comprises nine acres of land and a 16 acre lake just off Interstate 80. The area offers boating, fishing and picnicking, as well as non-powered boating.

Attractions

Fishing
Bluegill, channel catfish, redear sunfish, walleye, yellow perch and smallmouth bass are among the species available at War Axe State Recreation Area. There is a 21-inch minimum length limit on black bass.

Boating
Only non-powered and electric motor boats are permitted at War Axe. A white rock boat ramp is available.

Picnicking
Just off I-80, War Axe makes a great stop for travelers. The area offers six picnic tables, four grills and three shelters.

Camping

Primitive camping
Only primitive camping is offered at War Axe. The area has eight non-pad sites without electricity, as well as water and a modern restroom.
