Hunting season varies depending on the animal being hunted, the weapon used, and the zone you're hunting in. Turkey season is in May but youth may hunt turkeys the last weekend of April. For black bear hunters, the season starts September 1 but dates do vary depending on the method of capture and area you're hunting in. Dates also vary with waterfowl, since there are a variety of species found in the state. Archery season for deer hunters runs from mid-September to mid-December, which are also the same dates for fall archery turkey hunting. Muzzleloader deer hunters can hunt for a short window from late October to early November. Then regular firearm deer hunting season starts from early November to early December.
