Hunting regulations in Florida come fairly standard. However, it's your responsibility to brush up on your legal knowledge prior to hunting. In general, you can expect the following:

  • You are required to understand all hunting season dates and requirements prior to hunting.
  • Deer hunters and those accompanying deer hunters are required to wear a minimum of 500 square inches of hunter orange at all times while hunting on public lands.
  • Hunting hours are considered as one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.
  • You are not allowed to use gasoline or other noxious substances todrive out wildlife.
  • Likewise, you may not use food or garbage to bait raccoons, coyotes, or foxes that intentionally creates a public nuisance.
  • Intentionally feeding bears, sandhill cranes, and pelicans is illegal.
  • You may not take wildlife or its eggs, nest, etc., at any time unless authorized under Title 68A, F.A.C.
