Hunting can be done both on private land (with the permission of the land owner) and public lands. Public lands are popular for hunters who don't have access to private land hunting grounds. Wildlife management areas, state recreational areas, state parks, waterfowl production areas, U.S. Forest Service land and national park land are open to hunting during certain times of the year.
