In Montana, if you were born after Jan. 1, 1985, you must take a certified hunter safety and education course in order to get your hunting license. Adults 18 years or older can take an online course, but those younger than 18 must complete their education in a traditional classroom environment. All hunters, regardless of age, must complete an in-the-field course in order to be certified.
