Bird Walk Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, Smyrna, DE
Bombay Hook NWR is a great place to witness migrating shorebirds on their journey from Canadian and arctic regions south as far as Argentina. Look for wading birds and other summer residents, too. Bring binoculars and water to drink, sunblock and insect repellent. Directions: Take I-95 South to Delaware Route 1 South (Christiana exit), then leave Route 1 at exit 114 (Smyrna-South exit) to Route 13 North. Then turn left at Route 12 East (Smyrna-Leipsic Road) in a few miles and drive 5 more miles to merge with Route 9. Then, less than a mile from the merger, turn left onto Whitehall Neck Road which ends at the Refuge entrance. Join us to watch the return of the migrant shore birds.
