Snowmobiles are only allowed on certain recreational areas during certain weather conditions. All snowmobilers looking to ride on public lands must register their vehicle with the state of Nebraska. Typically, there must be at least six inches of snow on the ground and eight inches of ice on lakes to ride a snowmobile.
