Anyone born on or after Sept. 1, 1969 needs to take a Hunter Education course. You are exempt if you are under the direct supervision of an adult with someone with a valid hunting license or certificate of completion for a hunter education course. You are also exempt if you are an active or veteran member of the U.S. armed services or any POST-certified law enforcement officer. The Louisiana Hunter Education Certification course is offered via a 10-hour class or a home study format. The home study format consists of an online class and a five-hour field-day class.
