In order to hunt in Illinois, you will need a valid hunting license. In addition, for many game animals, such as deer or migratory waterfowl, you'll have to obtain a species-specific permit or stamp. If you plan to hunt with a firearm, you will need to get a Firearm Owner Identification Card from the Illinois State Police. An electronic state habitat stamp is also required in most cases. Most of these can be obtained online-the DNR encourages online purchases-at the website. As a last resort, a paper application can be submitted for necessary licenses. A list on in-person license vendors is available on the DNR website, as well.
