You must have a valid hunting license, a species-specific permit or stamp, permission or permits for the land you're hunting on, a safety certificate, and a habitat stamp to hunt in Illinois. If using a firearm, you must obtain a Firearm Owners Identification Card and carry it with you. During firearm deer season, all hunters-whether using firearms or not-must meet the solid blaze orange garment requirements. You may only hunt for game during their designated seasons and times of day. Regulations can change annually, so be sure to get the latest issue of the Digest of Hunting and Trapping, which is available online at the DNR website, before you head out.
