A Massachusetts fishing permit/license can be purchased online through the MassFishHunt system, in person at select retail stores, and MassWildlife offices. In order to saltwater fish in Massachusetts, you must obtain a recreational saltwater fishing permit if you are 16 years of age or older. To freshwater fish, you will need a freshwater fishing license if you are 15 years of age or older. The fees vary depending on age and residency status, among other things.
