One of the many fantastic aspects about living in Nevada is the warm weather any time of year. Outdoor enthusiasts don’t need to stay inside during the colder months. In fact, winter can be the best time to get out in nature. Below, find nine of the best winter camping spots around.
Warm up this winter at the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. The world-famous valley is known “for its 40,000 acres of bright red Aztec sandstone outcrops nestled in gray and tan limestone.” The two campgrounds are open every day of the year.
Two of Great Basin’s main attractions, Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive and Baker Creek Road, are closed for the winter, meaning it’s the perfect time to take advantage of less traffic. The roads are open to snowshoers and skiers, with winter camping available in the Lower Lehman Creek Campground.
If you prefer to spend your time in the comfort of your own RV, then you might consider Duck Creek RV Park. Just minutes from the Las Vegas strip, the park offers standard and premium sites.
Glampers who want the convenience of a cabin without giving up any of the rustic experience of camping would do well to consider Old Yella Dog Ranch. Located adjacent to the historic ghost town of Vya, visitors literally stay in a log cabin away from the city. It’s the perfect spot to camp out for the winter without pitching a tent.
Cathedral Gorge is simply gorgeous. Since the 22 campground sites are first-come-first-serve, the winter months provide the perfect opportunity to experience the site without the traffic of warmer seasons.
Echo Canyon State Park is always open and has 33 campsites available on a fire-come-first-served basis. RV owners can take advantage of the RV campground, with 20 full hook-up sites near Dry Valley. The reservoir, situated on 65 acres, is a wonderful place to fish and bird watch.
Explore historic ranches from the 1800s, go trout fishing, or enjoy the plethora of hiking options during your winter stay at the Spring Valley State Park. Grab one of the 37 campsites at nearby Horsethief Gulch Campground.
Mountain Shadows RV Park is open year-round and with its scenic location next to the Humboldt and Ruby Mountains, provides excellent sightseeing and activity options. Rent your spot by the day, week, or month.
