Since 1999, Project ChildSafe has partnered with over 15,000 law enforcement agencies to distribute more than 38 million free firearm safety kits to gun owners across the country. The safety kits include a cable-style gun-locking device and an educational brochure on safe handling and secure storage options.

Through these partnerships with law enforcement agencies, local officials and other community leaders, Project ChildSafe continues to be on the forefront of the fight against the misuse of firearms in order to help prevent accidents, thefts, and suicides.

The Center of Disease Control and Prevention reported that between 1999 and 2017 there was a 41 percent decline in fatal firearm accidents in the U.S., with safe and proper storage of firearms being an important factor in that reduction.

The Project ChildSafe website has valuable resources available for firearms owners, including information for parents about deciding which secure storage option is right for their lifestyle, how to discuss gun safety with children and safety videos for young kids.
