In August, Bryan Maess and his group were fishing near the mouth of the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean. A GoPro camera mounted on the boat captured a 31-foot boat speeding in the direction of Maess’ 20-foot boat. The group shouts and waves at the larger boat in a frantic attempt to warn the driver, but the larger boat shows no signs of slowing down. With just seconds to spare, the group leaps into the water before their boat is destroyed. Maess is filing a $372,500 lawsuit, claiming the other driver was distracted by his cellphone when the crash occurred.
