Each November, the Chilkat Valley comes alive with the sight of countless Bald Eagles, as they gather in the largest concentration in the nation. This annual spectacle draws thousands of eagles to the Chilkat River, nestled within the expansive 48,000-acre Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve near Haines. Many of these magnificent birds remain throughout the early winter months, while several hundred eagles call the Chilkat Valley home year-round.
The eagles flock here to feast on the late salmon run, making this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness one of nature's most awe-inspiring events. Surrounded by majestic mountains and pristine waters, the sight of so many eagles is truly unforgettable.
