The Emo Show traces one woman’s almost 25 year love affair with emo music. This performance explores the cultural phenomenon that was the early 2000s emo/pop-punk scene and what it means to grow up alongside the music you love. Starting with her experiences as a high schooler on the fringes of the New Jersey scene and ending with questions about what it means to now be an “elder emo,” the performer weaves together her personal narratives and the lessons she’s learned to demonstrate that it has always been more than “just a phase.”
