Schedule Of Events

7:00 pm : Jadyn Brick & Luisa Lynch

Halo-Halo: Mixed-Mixed is about two individuals honoring each of their experiences of being mixed-race: all of their confusion, joy, excitement, struggle, and everything in between. Halo-Halo (pronounced hah-lo hah-lo) is a Philippine dessert that directly translates to "mix-mix" in Tagalog. It is a combination of sweet toppings added to evaporated milk and crushed ice. In the same way that there are lots of variations on how to make halo-halo, there are lots of ways to be mixed-race when it comes to heritage and experience. We are making an honest piece about being mixed-race, and we intend to investigate the many complicated layers of our mixed-race lives. We don't want to create one set definition of "what it means to be mixed-race;" We only aim to shine a light on our experiences in the hope that it will inspire others to be as honest and compassionate toward their mixed-race experiences. Run Time: 1 hour. All Ages

7:00 pm : Syblings

How do we continue to build our capacity for hope and imagination in the face of human understanding, which at times can feel limiting and defeatist? In African Diasporic traditions call and response, an ‘interactive musical form [that] encourages participation from all members of the community, reinforc[es] social bonds and [encourages a] shared cultural identity.' This tradition affirms that folks are being heard, felt and witnessed. syBLiNGS! will engage this traditional style in ‘Trust Ancestral Knowing', a multimedia performance ritual, where they will introduce the audience to their 7 Ancestral Principles. Through: movement, singing, storytelling, conversation, collective affirmation, gorgeous visuals, live music and more, participants will accompany them on a journey of intentional reconnection with their Ancestors. This performance ritual will serve as a reminder, inspiring folks to be more attuned to the ever-present internal wisdom that is being given to them by their Ancestors. syBLINGS! experiences the art world – creating, songwriting, music making, communing with our Ancestors and storytelling – as vital to navigating the ‘real world'. Trust Ancestral Knowing, is an invitation – sharing ‘the how‘ of our art world practices with the larger community. Run Time: 75 minutes. Ages: 13+
