Run, walk or roll in this 14th annual 5K held in honor of fallen soldier, Chris Sullivan. The Sigma Phi Omicron Fraternity is excited to host this charity event to benefit veteran students.

Born and raised in Princeton, Massachusetts, Chris Sullivan was the only son and youngest child of James and Dorothy Sullivan. Known from an early age for his easy smile and sense of humor, Chris quickly enamored and earned the respect of those he encountered, a trait that would serve him well during his future military career. Capt. Sullivan was a UMass Lowell graduate and member of Sigma Phi Omicron fraternity.

On Jan. 18, 2005, just two weeks from his scheduled return home, while on a patrol of suspicious activity at a bridge in Baghdad, Capt. Sullivan lost his life when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated.

Each spring, the Sigma Phi Omicron Fraternity hosts the Chris Sullivan Veterans Memorial 5k at UMass Lowell which honors veterans and Capt. Chris Sullivan. Proceeds benefit the UML Chris Sullivan Memorial Scholarship Fund.
