Schedule:

Celebrate International African Penguin Awareness Day at the Pueblo Zoo

Once found by the tens of thousands along the sunny coasts of southern Africa, African penguins are now in serious trouble — with a staggering 97% population decline in just the past century.  These charming, tuxedoed seabirds are now critically endangered, and without help, they could vanish from the wild by 2035.

But there's hope - and it starts with YOU.

Join us at the Pueblo Zoo for International African Penguin Awareness Day and discover how zoos, aquariums, and everyday heroes are teaming up to turn the tide for these endangered seabirds through the AZA SAFE: African Penguin Project.

Join the celebration from 10am to 3pm in the EcoCenter and explore:

Make your own penguin-themed craft
Show off your smarts with Penguin Trivia
See real penguin “biofacts” up close
Hear from a zookeeper during the 3pm Keeper Talk
Learn how choosing sustainable seafood can protect penguins and oceans

Zoo Admission: $14.25/adults, $10.25/children, 2 and under are free.
