Travel through time in this thought-provoking program of intricate musical narratives, led by dynamic conductor Kazem Abdullah. Relish in Brahms's spirited Violin Concerto with the brilliant Benjamin Beilman, recipient of a 2012 Avery Fisher Career Grant and featured soloist for The Avery Fisher Legacy Concert. Reflect on Indigenous histories and melodies with Incident at Wounded Knee by Quapaw-Cherokee composer Louis W. Ballard, who is largely regarded as the father of Native American composition. To cap off the evening, take pleasure in the music of Stravinsky’s irresistibly playful ballet, Pulcinella, inspired by commedia dell’arte characters of Italian improvised theater.

Run time: approximately 2 hours 15 minutes

Location: Wu Tsai Theater, David Geffen Hall
