First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.
Location: Meet at the first parking lot on the left - Gray Fox Trail Loop.
Parking: Parking is available at day use parking lot. Day use fee applies and is $10 per vehicle.
What to Expect: Myths and legends of Caswell Memorial State Park through the eyes of maintenance. Come and hear unique myths and legends told by the staff that has been the eyes and ears of this magnificent and majestic riparian habitat for the over 20 years.
Length of Hike: 1.0 mile, 1 hours
Preparation: Please remember good walking shoes, water bottle, plenty of snacks, a jacket, a small backpack to carry/shed clothing layers as needed for the weather, and comfortable shoes. You may also consider packing lunch if you wish to enjoy a meal at the park, after the hike.
Special Instructions: Hike may be adjusted for weather.
Ages: All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
