First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.
What to Expect: A leisurely guided hike up along the lower loop trial to the pond and back. State Park interpretive staff will lead hike and share information about the history, and flora and fauna along the way.
Length of Hike: 1.5 mile, 2 hours
Preparation: Bring water, and dress appropriately for conditions. Not recommended for strollers due to sandy trails.
Special Instructions: Hike will happen rain or shine.
Ages: Adults and children old enough to hike a mile. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Parking: Parking $6.00 per vehicle, $5.00 per senior vehicle.
