First Day Hike at Pacheco State Park

First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.

Location: Meet at the Pacheco State Park parking lot.

Parking: Parking is available at day use parking lot. Day use fee applies and is $10 per vehicle.

What to Expect: Join a state park guide on an invigorating walk to Pig Pond. This walk offers moderate elevation changes and an opportunity to look for birds and other amazing wildlife that call Pacheco State Park home.

Length of Hike: 2.0 mile, 2 hours

Preparation: Please remember good walking shoes, water bottle, plenty of snacks, a jacket, a small backpack to carry/shed clothing layers as needed for the weather, and comfortable shoes. You may also consider packing lunch if you wish to enjoy a meal at the park, after the hike.

Special Instructions: No pets allowed.  

Ages: All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
