There is no better way to celebrate the new year than with a hike!
Join the Friends of Shenandoah River State Park for a scenic hike along the Overlook Trail. They will hike from the Overlook to the Visitor Center, which is half a mile on easy terrain. From here, you can either A), hike back to the overlook for a round trip of 1 mile, or B) continue hiking down Hemlock Hollow onto Bluebell then up the Campground trail for a round trip of 2.6 miles on easy to moderate terrain.
This hike will begin at Cullers Overlook. The nearest restrooms are located at the Visitor Center.
Please stop by the Visitor Center for light refreshments from the Friends of Shenandoah River State Park!

About First Day Hikes
Every year on Jan. 1, Virginia State Parks celebrates First Day Hikes. This nationwide initiative invites people to ring in the new year by connecting with nature and making lasting memories at a state park. Ranger-led and self-guided First Day Hikes are offered across the state, giving visitors of all ages and skill levels the chance to explore outdoors. January 1 is a Free Parking Day at all Virginia State Parks. (The admission fee at Natural Bridge still applies).
