First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.

Location: Meet by large map sign in Wilder Ranch parking lot for the Old Cove Landing Trail.

Parking: Parking is $10 payable at kiosk, by automatic payment and by Yodel.

What to Expect: On this 2.5 mile family friendly walk, we’ll explore the plants, animals, and geology of the coastal bluffs. Meet next to park map in Wilder Ranch main parking lot. Rain cancels. 2.5 mile loop trail is easy, with no elevation.

Length of Hike: 2.5 mile, 3 hours

Preparation: Bring water, hat, closed toe shoes, layered clothing, and binoculars if available.  

Special Instructions: Rain cancels hike. Leaving the parking lot at 11:05 a.m.

Ages: All ages.
