Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival is Thrilled to Announce our Season. Come Celebrate our 11th season with us this year.

Schedule:

2:00 p.m: "A Life in Two Murders" by Dawn Tucker

Join us for a compelling staged reading of A Life in Two Murders, an original play by Dawn Tucker that unearths a haunting family history through the words of those who lived it. Based on the actual transcripts from two coroner’s inquests, this play brings to life the true story of Hattie Briggs, the author’s great-great aunt, whose life and death were marked by violence, scandal, and the rough edges of early 20th-century Butte, Montana.

In 1931, Hattie Briggs was found murdered in Butte’s notorious Cabbage Patch. But her name had already been whispered in saloons and union halls a decade earlier, when she was implicated in the suspicious death of an alderman a known scab who had recently come into a small fortune. Through testimony, rumor, and official record, A Life in Two Murders pieces together the fragments of a woman's life at the margins, and the turbulent world that both shaped and condemned her.
