5K Road Race

Race Begins at 8:00am Sharp

Get your blood pumping the morning of the Fourth! Sandwich Recreation will be kicking off the special day with our new Spirit of Sandwich 5K race starting and finishing on Morse Road behind the Wing School fields at 33 Water Street.

Runners must be 13 years of age or older, unless accompanied by an adult. Prizes will be awarded for the 1st place overall winners in the men’s and women’s category only.

Online registration is now open at www.sandwichrec.com through July 1st. Registration is also available during the pick-up hours or on race day.

Register here or at the Recreation office from 8:30 AM - 4:00PM. Onsite day of registration will open from 6:30AM to 7:45AM.  Cash or check only!

Suggested donation is $20 for adults (14+), and $10 for children (13 and under). Payment MUST be cash or check if not registering online.

“Spirit of Sandwich” shirts will be available for purchase for $15 on race day.

 Reminder: This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT HOWEVER NOT A PET FRIENDLY EVENT. For the safety of our runners and pets please NO PETS ON THE FIELDS OR THE RACE ROUTE.

 ‘Spirit Of Sandwich’ 4th Of July Parade

Parade Begins At 10:30am

Closely following the road race is the annual Spirit of Sandwich Parade at 10:30 AM. The parade will follow a short course through the streets of downtown Sandwich and will start and finish on MORSE ROAD behind the Wing school. Please join in our festivities as a spectator or as a parade participant!

Everyone (businesses, groups, organizations, antique cars, individuals, families, neighborhoods, etc.) is invited to participate in the parade. 

All who wish to enter a float, group, antique car or walking group, etc. must contact the Sandwich Recreation Department at 508-888-4361 to preregister and receive further information. Vehicles that have not preregistered by July 1st will not be allowed to participate.

Awards will be given to the best parade floats in the following categories:

- Best Overall
- Most Patriotic
- My Hometown
- Most Creative

Picnic In The Park And Famous Egg Toss

Event Immediately Follows Parade- Starting at 11:00am

Finally, join Sandwich Recreation in the field behind the Wing School immediately following the parade for a brief parade awards ceremony followed by the annual Egg Toss and additional festive field events. We are excited to welcome local DJ Stephanie Viva as well as local food trucks to join in our celebration.

We will finish off the festive day with a muster put on by the Sandwich Fire Department- get ready for some water fun! The Sandwich Rec Department looks forward to seeing you at any or all of our events this Fourth of July weekend.

Please Note - No Rain Date for Either Event

Please note that in the event of steady rain, both the event on June 28th and July 4th will be cancelled. Unfortunately, there will be no rain date for either event, so fingers crossed we are granted clear skies! Please refer to our Facebook and Instagram @sandwichrecreation, or our website www.sandwichrec.com to check for event cancellation in the instance of inclement weather.
