The play by journalist and playwright Sérgio Roveri, winner of the Shell Award for Best Playwright in 2006 in Brazil, explores the role of chance and its undeniable power to bring change into people’s lives.
Thiago Carvâlhonts directs the new production, presented for the first time in Los Angeles. The story follows characters who have only a few hours to alter the course of their lives.
Actors Thiago Carvâlhonts (Apolônio) and Leonardo Sidney (Marcelo) portray two young men who cross paths on a large bridge. Marcelo, deeply affected by a tragedy for which he blames himself, is contemplating suicide. Apolônio, a mysterious craftsman, initiates a dangerous game, using sarcasm and poetry as his tools.
As they watch the river’s waters rise, they gradually begin to invade each other’s worlds. Their dialogue, shifting between harshness and lyricism, ultimately defines the fate of both characters.
