The City of Newton's Independence Day Celebration will take place at Agnes Patterson Memorial Park. Activities begin at 5 p.m.
Schedule of Events
5 p.m.: Free Throw Contest
Free Throw Contest will take place at Agnes Patterson Memorial Park's basketball court (located by the soccer fields). Registration will take place the day of the event and rules will be handed out at the same time.
Age Divisions:
Kids - 12 & under
Teens - 13 - 17
Adults - 18 & older
Kids and Teen contests begin at 5:15 p.m.; sign-ups begin at 5:00 p.m.
Adult contest begins at 6:15 p.m.; sign-ups begin at 6:00 p.m.
Prizes will be given to 1st place and 2nd place. All free throw contest participants will receive a participation medal.
The Free Throw Contest is sponsored by The Dental Practice, TruBank, and Dodd's Trash Hauling & Recycling, Inc.
5 p.m.: Food Trucks - KIKI's & Kaaswagen
Kaaswagen and KIKIs will be selling food starting at 5 p.m.
5:30 - 8:30 p.m.: Kids Zone (Inflatables)
6:15 - 9:15 p.m.: Entertainment provided by DJ Ex
The Kids Zone will feature inflatables and will open to the public from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.; live entertainment/music from DJ Ex will take place from 6:15 - 9:15 p.m. during the Independence Day Celebration.
Dusk: Fireworks
The annual fireworks celebration will begin at dusk at Agnes Patterson Memorial Park. Fireworks sponsored by the City of Newton and Bolton & Menk.
The 4th of July Parade & Downtown Market take place earlier in the day. The events in downtown Newton are a separate event on the same day and are planned by our partners the Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce and Newton Main Street.
