Every Independence Day, Breckenridge comes alive with patriotism, parties and the annual Main Street Parade. It's a day of celebration that includes athletic competitions, live music, art festivals, family activities and a few of our favorite small-town traditions.

7:00am - 11:00am: Independence Day 10k

Don't miss this favorite kick-off to Breckenridge's 4th of July celebration! This scenic IOK trail running race offers up some of the best views in the Breckenridge area, while finishing just in time to catch the Main Street parade and other festivities.

This race typically sells out in June - early registration is highly recommended.

8:30am - 4th of July Strider Bike Race

Now here's a bike race for the little guys! "If your child can walk, your child can stride!" Join us for our 10th Annual Strider Race and watch your child compete on his/her no-pedal balance bike.

Get the kids involved! The Strider Bike Race will kick off Breckenridge's 4th of July festivities and main attractions, The Firecracker 50 and Parade. Racers will start in front of the historical Gold Pan Saloon and finish at Blue River Plaza.

NO DAY OF REGISTRATION. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST PRE-REGISTER.

Strider/ Balance Bikes are not provided. Please bring a Strider/ Balance Bike and helmet for your child if they are planning to participate.

Independence Day Parade

Breckenridge is excited for another year of our beloved Independence Day Parade. The Firecracker 50 Mountain Bike Race will lead off the parade at 9:30am and the parade will kick-off at 10:00am. Start your morning celebrating on Main Street.

Due to overwhelming interest in the July 4th parade, parade float registration is now full.

Location: Main Street between Watson and Park Ave.

The Firecracker 50 kicks off Independence Day in Breckenridge with a bang! This 50-mile mountain bike race starts on Main Street before sending riders off into some of the best backcountry trails Breckenridge has to offer. 4,000 foot climbs, thrilling descents, and plenty of singletrack awaits all participants. The Firecra 50 
Mountain Bike Race will lead off the parade at 9:30am and the parade will k off at 10:00am.

Limited availability. This race is expected to sell out in advance.

Art Bike Runway · Ridge Street Arts Square – Bring your decked-out bike and get ready to roll! Participants can sign up at the judging table and show off their ride during the runway. Walk your bike across the stage, share its story with the audience, or even throw in a few tricks if you've got the skills. Judges will award prizes to the top three entries.

2:00pm – 3:00pm
Dog Fashion Show · Ridge Street Arts Square – Pups should arrive dressed to impress and ready for the runway! During the show, participants will walk their dogs across the stage—and if your furry friend has a trick or two, now's the time to show them off. Prizes will be awarded for Most Patriotic Pup, Most Creative Canine, and Best Bike Buddy.

A Breckenridge local will give a public reading of the Declaration of Independence following the parade.

After the reading of the Declaration of Independence, the National Repertory Orchestra Alumni Quartet will perform.

4:30pm - 5:30pm - Cirque Mechanics Performance

Cirque Mechanics: Pedal Punk

Step into the whimsical world of Pedal Punk, where cycling becomes a means to escape a technology-obsessed society. Set in a zany bike shop, a wacky mechanic Interacts with cyclists and bikes, creating wondrous machines that inspire the cyclist in all of us to become a pedal punk. The performance features a custom-made, movable, pedal-powered scaffold set dubbed the Gantry Bike, serving as the stage for aerialists, contortionists, and unicyclists.

Throughout the day, catch teaser performances by Cirque Mechanics along Main Street, offering glimpses into the full spectacle. These pop-up acts provide an up-close experience of the troupe's unique blend of acrobatics and mechanical marvels.

Don't miss this unforgettable celebration of creativity, community, and the boundless possibilities of performance art.

6:00pm - National Repertory Orchestra: Fourth of July Spectacular

Celebrate Independence Day with the National Repertory Orchestra (NRO) Fourth of July Spectacular! Don your stars and stripes and enjoy beloved patriotic pieces conducted by NRO Music Director Laureate Carl Topilow. The Fourth of July Spectacular is dedicated to all who have served and are currently in uniform with thanks from a grateful nation.

Concert will start at 6:00pm and doors open at 5:30pm.
