The 16th Annual Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon takes place on Sunday, August 31st beginning at 6am on Poipu Road and ends oceanfront at the Koloa Landing Resort. The marathon finisher’s party and awards ceremony begins at 8am. Race participants and supporters can enjoy food, refreshments, and live entertainment until the early afternoon.
Course Information:
The Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon begins in Poipu, the world-class resort community at the sunny southern end of the island, with routes sharing the first 11 miles. The courses follow the contour of the scenic coastline, offering magnificent views of the island’s picturesque beaches, rugged volcanic peaks, and tropical rain forests. As dawn breaks, runners experience lush green vistas as they approach the shade of the century-old Tunnel of Trees before winding through misty Omao where the half marathoners enter the Kukui’ula Resort offering spectacular ocean views for the last few miles. The full marathon heads out to Lawai before climbing to reveal stunning ocean views at the top of Kalaheo. The remaining miles are a gradual descent until runners receive a rousing island welcome upon their return to the oceanfront finish line in Poipu.

Route:
The marathon and half-marathon events begin on Poipu Road in front of the Poipu Shopping Village. The first 11 miles are run together before the half marathoners veer off into Kukui’ula Resort to their oceanfront finish while the marathoners head up Koloa Road to the neighborhoods of Lawai and Kalaheo before heading back down to Poipu.
Finisher’s Party:
The marathon finisher’s party and awards ceremony is located on the oceanfront lawn at the Koloa Landing Resort beginning at 8am. Race participants and supporters can enjoy food, refreshments, and live entertainment until the early afternoon.
Awards:
Beautiful Kauai-Made awards are presented three deep for both the marathon and half marathon age division winners, as well as top three male and female overall.
