Join us for the 20th Annual Lake Area Fiber Arts Festival!

Workshop classes in separate rooms will be offered to the public and will be held in various sessions on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon.

The Lake Area Fiber Arts Festival will feature a vendor expo with 15+ vendor booths as well as sales of finished fiber art and work handmade by members of the Lake Area Fiber Artists.

Class Schedule:

10-12 am: Introduction to making a Dorset Button

We will be learning the basic steps of creating a Dorset Button.

Thread is wrapped then woven over a plastic ring using various stitches and weaving techniques. Different threads and colors will be available.

They can be used as traditional buttons, however as with any art, the ideas are only limited by imagination. Buttons have been used in jewelry or accent pieces on other items. Examples will be shared in class well as a brief history and book options.

9-12 am: Warp it Good

Take your rigid heddle weaving up a notch by learning tricks and tidbits of using an assortment of warp weights without a variable dent heddle. Student should bring their own rigid heddle loom, warping peg, scissors and any yarn(s) they want to work with. We will be doing quick warp techniques with multiple weights of yarn and one weight of weft. Students willstart a scarf to complete at home. Yarns and instructional handout provided.

1-3 pm: Russian Spiral Bracelet

In this class students will learn to make a simple spiral bracelet in two colors. This is a beginning class and all materials will be provided.
