For 80 years Mason County Forest Festival has been proud to host a countywide celebration to welcome friends, families, and visitors to commemorate rich forest traditions.

The 2024 theme is "Believe in Bunyan and Babe"

Schedule:

12:00-10:00pm: Carnival

Join us for some classic carnival fun for all ages!  Located Downtown on 1st Street (at the Old Mell Chevrolet location).

Tickets are $1 each, or $40 for a wristband.  Rides typically take 4-7 tickets to ride. 36” minimum height.

6:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Goldsborough Creek Run/Walk/Jog

Proceeds benefit the Mason General Hospital Centennial Guild and the Kristi Armstrong Memorial Scholarship.

Course:  Run and Walk event start at the Shelton Valley Christian School on Shelton Valley Road. The Junior Jog and 1/4 Mile (Age 65+) starts at 7th Street and Railroad Ave.

7:00 AM - 11:00 AM: Mason 5 Firefighters Pancake Breakfast

Central Mason Fire | Station #58

Come out and fill up before the parade!

Support your local firefighters at the annual “before the parade” tradition.  Pancakes, French toast, sausage, eggs, orange juice and coffee are served from 7AM to 11AM by a few of our local heroes!

10:30 AM - 11:00 AM: Family and Pet Parade

5th and Railroad Ave

The cutest pre-show to the Paul Bunyan Grand Parade!  SHELTON FAMILY YMCA invites people of all ages, families, groups and pets before the Paul Bunyan Grand Parade to have some good old fashioned fun in the Family and Pet Parade.  

Dress up with your pets, decorate your bike, wear a costume, have a forest theme or something totally different!  Arrive by 9:30am to check in.  Ribbons awarded for best entries in the following categories:

Group and/or Family Entry,  Decorated Bike,  ”Believe in Bunyan and Babe” Theme

Pet Costumes (Group/Individual),  Best Costume (human)

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Paul Bunyan Grand Parade

Railroad Avenue

Visiting Royalty Floats, Commercial entries, Non-profit groups and organizations are always highlights of the parade.  From honoring our veterans to guiding our youths these organizations promote good will in our community each and every day.  

Look for entries from the Boy and Girl Scouts, American Legion, 4-H, and various equestrian groups- just to name a few.

Parade participants even compete for various awards in several categories. The unique award plaques have been designed and produced by local high school students. Some of the award categories include Grand Sweepstakes, Grand Marshall, Motorized Vehicles, Spirit, Creativity, Novelty, Equestrian, Bands, Dance/Drill, and more.

12:30 PM - 4:00 PM: Logging Show

Loop Field

This is going to be another great logging competition held at Loop Field. This year we will have up to 16 Men competing in the “SUPER SIX” Championship and 12 Women competing in the “FEATURED FOUR” Championship. Expect to see some of the best logging sport athletes in the West at this show.

Check out the vendors as well!  There will be a variety of food and wares, something for everyone.

10:00 PM - 11:00 PM: Fireworks Show

Oakland Bay Junior High

This year’s fireworks show will be the biggest it’s ever been!  

Join us for a no-to-be-missed fireworks show, it will be amazing.

Fireworks stage at Oakland Bay Junior High and can be seen from parking lots along Wallace-Kneeland Blvd.
