Maunawili Out and Back (aka Run with the Pigs) is a 22-mile out and back course on the Maunawili Demonstration Trail. The course offers long and runnable sections following the Koʻolau mountain contour in and out of valleys treating runners to beautiful views and lush surroundings. It also offers heat, humidity, mud and technical terrain to navigate. Dehydration is real and is not your friend. Carrying sufficient fluids is mandatory.
Age Requirement: Entrants for Maunawili Out and Back must be 15 years of age or older. If under 18, a signed waiver by their parent/guardian must be submitted within 3 days of registration. The waiver form is available for download in the waiver tab. Instruction on how to submit the signed waiver is at the bottom of the form.
COURSE: This trail is heavily used and can be narrow, so please be courteous to other trail users, particularly equestrians. The trail will be marked with bright pink ribbons and flags. You may see blue ribbons on the trail. Blue ribbons = Bad.
There will be a few course marshals at the start of the event at 3 junctions. They will not be present on the return leg; the runners need to be attentive to the flags and ribbons.
If you leave the course for any reason, you must report to either Neal in Waimanalo (808-554-5848) or Marian at Start/Finish (808-221-5171) so we can account for your whereabouts.
