Hailed by Opera News for “polished, communicative, and colorful playing,” the internationally-acclaimed COPLAND HOUSE ENSEMBLE is based at the award-winning creative center for American music and the arts at legendary composer Aaron Copland’s National Historic Landmark home in Westchester County, and its vast, newly-acquired satellite venue at Bluestone Farm on the New York-Connecticut border (coplandhouse.org). Offering “spellbinding journeys” (Atlanta Journal-Constitution) across 150 years of the nation’s vibrant musical landscape, this singular American repertory ensemble champions classic and forgotten voices from the past, and celebrates today’s established and rising creators of all backgrounds and identities. Its ear-opening, mind-expanding narratives in sound memorably illuminate generations, continents, and cultures. The ensemble has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, NPR (including a Tiny Desk Concert), Sirius, the European Broadcasting Union, and other major media; and is engaged by North America’s foremost concert presenters, including Tanglewood, the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Library of Congress, Smithsonian Institution, Universities of Chicago and Virginia, and the Caramoor, Bard, Bowdoin, and Ecstatic Festivals. It also presents two mainstage series at Elebash Hall at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York and at Bluestone Farm, and has a growing discography on the Arabesque, Koch International, and COPLAND HOUSE BLEND labels. Its nearly 100 commissions have received many honors, including the prestigious Grawemeyer Award (for Sebastian Currier’s Static.) Inspired by Copland’s peerless, lifelong advocacy of American composers, it offers children’s and family programs, master classes, lectures, workshops, and other educational and community outreach activities across the U.S. Founded in 1999, the Copland House Ensemble boasts a stellar roster of Founding, Principal, and Guest Artists; as The Chicago Tribune raved, “Copland would have been proud of all of them.”

Copland House Ensemble appears by arrangement with Dworkin & Company.
