The Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival celebrates the apple industry- a valued part of the heritage of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.  Held every third weekend in October, it has become a treasured homecoming with festivities spanning over multiple days.

5th Annual Apple Harvest Fall Classic at Musselman High School Baseball Complex

The Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival is happy to announce the Annual Fall Classic to recognize local baseball and softball student athletes for their success on the field and in the classroom.  This year we will be hosting both Baseball and Softball.

10AM: Pomona Ladies Brunch at Holiday Inn

The annual Pomona Ladies Brunch is a lovely gathering celebrating generations of successful women in our community, featuring a delicious apple-themed meal, the signature Apple pin gift, several giveaways from local businesses, and an inspiring word from a female leader in our region. Our 2025 featured speaker will be our reigning Queen Pomona XLV Abigail McBee.

6PM: Coronation of Queen Pomona at Airborne Church (FREE PUBLIC EVENT)

The Airborne Event Center stage will sparkle with glamour as guests await the crowning of Queen Pomona XLVI. The coronation marks the official crowning of  Queen Pomona and opening of the festival. The Berkeley County High School Senior ROTC Cadets will lead the dramatic processional, making a grand entrance paving the way for the introduction of the Maid Elect, and the Court.West Virginia Commissioner of Agriculture will preside over the coronation of Queen Pomona XLVI.

7pm to 10pm: Queen's Reception & Grand Ball at Holiday Inn

Come and greet the newly crowned Queen Pomona and her Court and their escorts.

Dance the night away and celebrate the festival with us!

Apple Pie Baking Contest at BCYF

-Sprouts: Ages 5-13 

-Buds: Ages 14-18 years (19 years if still in high school)

-Blossoms: Ages 19 years and older

-Commercial Division: A business or organization that sells fresh apple pies to the public.

Pie Criteria (ALL divisions): Pies must be a two crust pie made from scratch. Pies need to be made in a 9 inch aluminum pie pan. Pies baked in any other container or other size will be disqualified.

Judging will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday with an informal announcement of winners around 5 p.m. A grand prize winner will be chosen from all non-commercial divisions. First, second and third placewinners will also be selected for each non-commercial division. Commercial pie entries will be judged separately and the business or organization with the best pie will be awarded a banner to display at their establishment.
