As long as the songs keep coming, she will raise her voice.

An early encounter and collaboration with legendary Native American poet John Trudell introduced Huckfelt as friend & partner to an array of Indigenous artists and activists including Keith Secola, Louise Erdrich, Quitman. He also served as musical director and performer at “Water Is Life” music and resistance festival in Duluth, and his music appears in the AMC TV series “Dark Winds”. With roots in the same fertile Midwestern soil that produced legendary folk singers like John Prine and Greg Brown, David's new solo work preserves a rugged optimism that blasts through layers of dark in real time with songs that speak volumes, soft & clear.
7:30 pm - Monkey's Uncle: Monkeys Uncle brings a quirky blend of American roots music to life with accordion, mandolin, and foot-stomping percussion. With an old-timey spirit and a modern sense of mischief, this band of real life of brothers weaves together folk, jazz, and front-porch funk. Their original tunes are driven by playful energy and heartfelt storytelling. Monkeys Uncle delivers toe-tapping tunes that celebrate community, curiosity, and the joy of making noise in good company. Monkeys Uncle is a trio of musically mischievous brothers formed in Butler, MN. Ah-Lou keeps rhythm on drums and vocals, a talent their ma discovered thanks to the racket he’d make as taddler on the pots, pans, and cupboard slobber—he’s also an elementary principal. Cat-Poet sings and squeezes the accordion, a more portable evolution of his obstinate piano; he also plays in Fargo’s premier polka band, Meat Rabbits and is a school psychologist and piano tuner. Muford T. Bogstompr rounds out the trio on vocals, mandolin, and guitar. Bogstompr also plays bluegrass in Duluth with Lake Effect String Band, and moonlights as a Forest Service hydrologist. Together, these brothers serve up lively, rootsy Americana with wit and charm. The Rütten brothers got their start by entertaining their many nieces and nephews, most of whom are rascals and scallywags, hence the name of their band. Monkey’s Uncle loves connecting the old-school way—face to face! No website, no socials—so stop by and shake howdy. For bookings, reach out in person or [email protected].
