Established in 1984, National Night Out is an annual, community-building campaign and event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August.

Portsmouth has participated in National Night Out nearly every year since its inception and offers nationally ranked programming.  Join us for ultimate community get-together

Schedule of Events:

3:00pm - Opening Ceremony Presentation of Colors (I.C. Norcom H.S. NJROTC) Fly over by the United States Navy
3:15pm - Opening Remarks by Honorable Shannon Glover, Mayor Mr. Steven Carter, City Manager Mr. Stephen Jenkins, Chief of Police
3:45pm - Presentation of the Proclamation
3:45pm-8:00pm - National Night Out Car Show, Demos, Vendors, and Free Resources
4:30-7:30pm - Live Music by the Tidewater Drive Band
Raffle Drawings at the top of every hour starting at 4pm at the Registration Tent
