Battery Park City

Outdoor Installation: Maison Millefleurs

Maison Millefleurs is a small jewel box of a greenhouse filled with a tangled garden of life-sized flowers, each illuminated by programmed LED lights. Made by many hands – both by the artists Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky and the public during the House of a Thousand Flowers workshop series – this outdoor installation echoes the form of a community garden and represents a magical coming together. Weppler and Mahovsky’s bouquets with handmade blooms that will transcend a single place or season.

The installation will conclude with a culminating event on September 21, where the public will be invited to select a bouquet of flowers to keep, giving Maison Millefleurs new life as its flowers are dispersed throughout the city.

Maison Millefleurs is created by artists Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky, with 3D printing and lighting design by Wade Weppler, and assistance from Richard Winchell. This project is presented in partnership with Battery Park City Authority.
