Performance Details :
Feb. 28 / March 1 – IMGE Dance will present Three Sisters interweaves the tales of three siblings—eldest, middle, and youngest— as they grow together and apart in responsibility, independence, and purpose. IMGE’s latest trio production parallels relationships of women with natural terrains, from the lonely mountain peak to the deep sea of rage. The cast features three female dance artists, each bringing their own lived experiences to the multifaceted nature of sisterly bonds in all their complexity.
Company Background:
IMGE Dance is an American dance company that unravels traditional forms from Indian and American classical, folk, street styles, and contemporary to reinvent how movement connects our experiences. Their work often navigates themes of belonging and home, multiplicity in identities, and mythic explanations of reality to make audiences think more about how they interact with the world. IMGE was founded in 2017 by Artistic Director Ishita Mili (she/they), and has collected niche artists with unique identities across NJ/NYC. IMGE and Ishita have reached inter/national platforms from Lincoln Center Out-Of-Doors, Battery Dance Festival, Seattle International Dance Festival, to the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. They’ve designed numerous commercial projects with clients like NBCuniversal, IndoWarehouse, Sona Restaurants, and fashion/lifestyle brands. They have also worked in musical theater including Broadway Bares and Asolo Rep’s “Hair.” IMGE was featured in Vogue, Vanity Fair, and KREM TV and has amassed a loyal global fanbase.
Khambatta Dance Company - Seattle
Performance Details:
Feb. 28 / March 1 – Khambatta Dance Company (KDC), presents Family Tide, a funny satire on the characters that live in families. The piece “rotates” around tables – which could be a dinner table, a family meeting table, or any table that calls its cast of characters to bear. Sometimes the table is solitary confinement, sometimes a barrier, sometimes a revelous romp more akin to a circus.
Company Background:
Khambatta Dance Company (KDC) was founded by executive artistic director, Cyrus Khambatta, a biracial artist whose father emigrated from India, and who studied contemporary performance at New York University in NYC’s creatively fertile 80s. KDC connects artists and audiences by exploring contemporary issues, emotionally resonant performances, and a collaborative dance creation process. KDC tours annually nationally and internationally at renowned festivals and venues, and intentionally cultivate networks of support with other dance artists through residencies and artist-to-artist collaborations. Since 2006, the Seattle International Dance Festival, KDC’s signature program, unifies communities and celebrates the city’s neighborhoods by showcasing the work of local, regional, national and international dance artists who exemplify the diversity of contemporary dance.
