Each August Staunton Music Festival welcomes over 80 acclaimed professionals from around the world to perform in 30 events. Multiple concerts daily make for an exhilarating immersion in chamber, vocal, and symphonic music. The days are given over to one-hour, free admission programs, while the evenings come alive with longer, ticketed concerts preceded by special dinners and short lectures. And for those who enjoy music after dark, look for the Nightcap concerts that take place at 10:00 pm in interesting spaces downtown.

12:00pm - Heaven and Earth

Beethoven is featured in this one-hour concert, including the Piano Concerto No. 4 and songs based on his music

Silcher - Songs on melodies from Beethoven’s Sonatas and Symphonies
Beethoven - Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major, arr. for piano and string sextet

3:00pm - Midday Baroque Escape

Quantz - Sonata in E Minor, for two unaccompanied flutes
Rossi - Sonata for two violins and continuo
Caccini - Airs for voice and continuo
Bach - Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 for two horns, three oboes, bassoon, violino piccolo, and strings

Beat the midday heat of August and escape to another time and place. This all-Baroque program features Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 and works by Rossi, Caccini, and Quantz. Plus all guests receive a serving of gelato as they exit, courtesy of The Split Banana!
