We are excited to offer a new event to the Greater Bangor Region, THE GREAT BANGOR MARATHON & HALF, Sunday June 23, 2024, starting at 7 am at the corner of Main St and Dutton St in Bangor, Maine. This event is USATF sanctioned, and Boston certified (Marathon ME24008BK  Half ME24007BK). We are grateful to our Title Sponsor Bangor Savings Bank and their support.  There will be a full marathon through Bangor out valley avenue to Broadway with a turn around in the town of Kenduskeag and back to the Finish at Bangor Waterfront Park (Dutton St entrance) just south of Geaghan’s restaurant. There is only a 170' elevation difference on the course profile from start to finish. The half marathon following the same course with a turn around on outer Broadway shortly after Pushaw Road. There is NO TIME LIMIT - we want you to reach your goal to complete the race. For runners who have "BOTTLES",  we will accept "BOTTLES" at the operations tent at the start by 6:30 am. These will be on a special table at each water station for the runner to pick up. We will have photo opportunities at the finish as well as vendors offering massages and physical therapy.  Geaghan's, which is right at the finish line, is our beverage sponsor and the beverage garden will be open to socialize and talk about the race with family and friends.  There is plenty of nearby parking, affordable lodging and dining to make this a destination for the whole family.  Come to this challenging inaugural event "THE GREAT BANGOR MARARTHON & HALF"!  For more information check out our Facebook page "The Great Bangor Marathon & Half".    Packet pickup will start on Friday June 21 from 4-6 pm, the Saturday from 11-1 pm and 4-6 pm  at Geaghan's restaurant - there will be a tent outside the entrance to the restaurant.

There is PRIZE MONEY.  This is a race and our starting PRIZE MONEY is for the Marathon offering:

First Place $1,000 each for mens and womens division.

Second Place $500 each for mens and womens

Third Place $250 each for mens and womens.

As sponsors come on board, these amounts may increase and we will be able to offer prize money for the Half Marathon.
