The Unified 5k and AdaptXpo is an inclusive road race and adaptive sports expo that fosters community, connection, and competition. The event emphasizes building inclusive communities, creating opportunities, and making fitness and physical activity accessible for people with intellectual and physical disabilities.

Join us on May 10th at Cumberland High School for our inaugural Unified 5k in Rhode Island. Participants have the opportunity to run, walk, roll, or row either the 5k (3.1 mile) or 1 Mile course. Arrive early or hang around after the event to check out our vendors and clinics at the AdaptXpo, a celebration of organizations that focus on health, inclusion, accessibility, assistive technology, and adaptive sports.

Our organization, AdaptX addresses barriers to better health and fitness for people with intellectual and physical disabilities through education, research, advocacy, and scholarship. We are a leading provider in adaptive fitness education and operate The Rick Hoyt Research Lab, which conducts impactful studies that improve fitness and reduce secondary health conditions for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.

These events support AdaptX initiatives, specifically our Scholarship and Ambassador Fund, which addresses socioeconomic barriers to participation so that we can make fitness and physical activity accessible for every body.

Course Info:

5K Route:

– Start on Farm Drive in front of the High School entrance

– Run/Walk/Roll 0.55 miles down Farm Drive and turn right onto Apache Lane

– At the end of Apache, turn right onto Plantation Drive which becomes Plantation Road

– At the end of Plantation, turn left onto Farm Drive and run back towards the school

– Before reaching the start/finish line, turn right onto Mullen Street

– Turn left onto Hadde Avenue, left onto Evergreen Street, left onto Beamis Avenue, and right onto Mullen Street

– Turn left onto Farm Drive and run a half mile to complete the Apache and Plantation loop

– Run/Walk/Roll a half mile to the finish line!

– Start on Farm Drive in front of the High School entrance

– Run/Walk/Roll 0.53 miles down Farm Drive and turn left onto Secluded Court

– Loop around the cul-de-sac

– Turn right onto Farm Drive

– Run/Walk/Roll a half mile to the finish line!
