Urbandale 4th of July Celebration

Urbandale is Home to one of the Largest 4th of July Celebrations in the Area!
We invite you to bring your family and celebrate Independence Day in Urbandale. The Urbandale 4th of July celebration is the largest celebration in the Des Moines metro area. This event is held at Lion’s Park in the heart of Urbandale. This long standing tradition includes a 2 mile long parade, a premier carnival, entertainment garden, live music as well as a variety of other activities. The annual community event is organized by a group of volunteers and is primarily self funded with help from local business sponsors and fundraising.
Extra handicap parking will be available during July 2-4 at Urbandale Senior Recreation Center. The city is tentatively planning to have the splash pad open on July 2-4. The splash pad will turn off at 6pm.

10:00 AM – Parade
This 2 mile long parade is widely known throughout the Des Moines metro as the largest and most watched parade! Bring the family, stake out your spot and be prepared to interact with your local organizations, businesses, and collect lots and lots of candy!

The parade will be running rain or shine this year. In the event of severe weather or lightning, the parade would be canceled and communicated out through the website and social media channels.

12:00 PM – Cribbage Tournament Registration at Urbandale Senior Recreation Center
12:00 – 9:00 PM – Lions Bingo Tent
1:00 PM – Bob Dabrieo Memorial Cribbage Tournament at Urbandale Senior Recreation Center
1:00 PM – Reading of the Declaration of Independence – Hosted by Urbandale Republicans at Lions Park Gazebo
2:00 PM – Urbandale Area Democrats at Lions Park Gazebo
5:00 PM – Bags/Cornhole Tournament at Lions Park Tennis Courts
5:00 – 6:00 PM – Community Band
10:00 PM – Fireworks Display – Shot from West Side of Walker Johnston Park (rain date is July 5 at 10:00 PM)
11:00 PM – Midway and Carnival Closes
