Join us for the 4th Annual Washburn University Percussion Festival. Festival Highlights: Andrew Richardson and Emily Saldago- Two of the strongest young voices in percussion education today, and outstanding performers as well. Coaching Sessions (9A-4P): High School and Middle School Percussion Ensembles are invited to participate in a 40 minute coaching session led by Dr. Saldago and Dr. Richardson. Live Performance (11:30a): Washburn University Percussion Group will join Dr. Richardson and Dr. Saldago for a showcase concert. Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to celebrate the world of percussion with us at Washburn University. Let's make the 4th Annual Washburn University Percussion Festival the most incredible one yet! Registration fee is $200 for the first group, $150 for additional groups (from the same program).

More about Emily Saldago
Dr. Emily Salgado (b. 1994) is a versatile musician known for her work as a soloist, chamber and orchestral performer, clinician, and adjudicator. She has collaborated with prestigious ensembles like the National Chinese Orchestra Taiwan and the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, premiering numerous compositions. Her current project, Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History, showcases works by female composers dedicated to pioneering female percussionists, celebrating their significant contributions to the field. In January 2023, Emily co-founded Twin Lakes Duo with Jimmy Stagnitti, with plans for a U.S. tour. Their recent performance featured Emma O’Halloran’s music for the small hours, highlighting their commitment to new works. Emily's conducting experience includes serving as assistant drum major for the Carolina Crown and leading their Leadership Camp. Currently, she is the Assistant Professor of Percussion at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she teaches and directs various ensembles.

More about Andrew Richardson
Andrew is a distinguished percussion educator at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, where his students have thrived as percussion specialists, band directors, and university professors. He has published works with Tapspace Publications, Marimba Publications, Boxfish Music, and in Percussive Notes, the journal of the Percussive Arts Society. Previously, he served as editor of the OU Percussion Press. An active clinician, Andrew has collaborated with universities and high schools across the central United States and has presented at esteemed events like the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. His writing includes percussion arrangements for various educational institutions and compositions for steel band and chamber ensembles. Andrew holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Oklahoma, along with Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from James Madison University. He is a past president of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society
