One of the highlights of the Wild Rivers Mushroom Festival is our huge display, with over 200+ varieties of wild mushrooms that are locally collected and identified for you. Those who have attended our festival in the past are always in awe of the sheer number and diversity of wild mushrooms our team gathers for this display!
2025 Lectures & Workshops:
10:30-3:30: Introduction to Wild Mushrooms: A full Day with the Experts! - $50
Jon Sommer and Rachel Zoller, Instructors
This will be a combination lecture, field foray, and ID session, led by two of our favorite teachers, Jon Sommer and Rachel Zoller. Please make sure to dress for coastal weather, as the foray portion of this class will be rain or shine. Note: we will be encouraging carpooling during the foray. More details will follow as we get closer to the festival.

10:30-11:30: Early Mushroom Lovers and the Fungi They Named - $20
Aaron Hilliard
Aaron Hilliard is a mycology educator from Kitsap County, Washington and is best known for his social media presence as the face of Mushroom Wonderland. His talk is a dive into the early fungal taxonomists and how they started naming and describing the mushrooms we love. Aaron will be bridging the past with the present in a fungal form of time travel which is sure to be interesting and fun for all levels of mushroom enthusiasts.

12:15-1:15: Seeking Knowledge Within the World of Mushrooms - $20
Noah Siegel
Noah Siegel is one of North America’s foremost field mycologists; he has spent over three decades seeking, photographing, identifying, and furthering his knowledge about all aspects of macrofungi. He travels and lectures extensively across America, following the mushrooms from coast to coast.
Noah was the recipient of the 2022 North American Mycological Association’s Award for Contributions to Amateur Mycology. His primary research interest is on the taxonomy and systematics of fungi.

2:00-3:30: Wild Mushrooms: Culinary Delights To Wow Your Palate! - $25
Chad Hyatt
We are thrilled to have Chad Hyatt, a classically trained chef and the author of The Mushroom Hunter's Kitchen (newly revised in 2025 and available at the festival), back with us again. He consistently sells out each year he attends our festival, and this year will be no exception!
